Women Empowerment :Purple Pearl Movement

Saturday the 27th marked the official launch to Purple Pearl Movement in Maseno University.
The fun day was full of sports and other interactive activities such as Aerobics, brief talks and a open forum in deep issues that affect ladies today and what we could do as a movement to reach out to them.
Here are some of the photos from the days activities:

This powerful movement is in conjuction with The institute of gender studies within the university. As the Team leader, Beth, Assistant Team leader Fatma and administrator, Purple spoke; I strongly felt their motive was driven by passion. Passion to ensure that the culture of young girls in school would change and that they would wake up to the potential they had in them. A vision that whether you're a young mother or a freshman student you wouldn't be vulnerable but have a supportive  family around you that stood with you through thick and thin.
During her brief talk, Beth made it clear that this movement wasn't just to begin in Maseno; it was a national movement to ensure that young girls and women everywhere were educated both lifewise and bookwise. She also reminded us that gender equality isn't about bring one gender down but raising the other up so as to achieve an equal level.

To wrap this up, I'll end with a quote; Another woman's beauty doesn't mean absence of your own.
