INTRODUCTION TO B.A.M.U
Introduction

B.A.M.U (Bloggers Association of University) is a bloggers collective in Maseno University that seeks to be the go to platform for exclusive intellectual conversations and content generation for social impact.

We are bringing bloggers as the prime content generators and other interested people to come together and explore the possibilities of having artistic and intellectual people come together and casually converse about contemporary issues like unemployment, showbiz, the internet and technology, sports, business and art and culture.

Our goal is to generate positive conversations about the identified thematic areas and gather pools of information that will then be used to generate content for online platforms apart from what individual bloggers each write about.

Here in Maseno University, we aim to trigger conversations that will lead to change and social impact through our Ongea platforms that will be held weekly (Sundays) and we will converse in a cocktail-like environment where students will network and share information on what projects they are working on and hence partner with other like-minded people both in the university or outside the university through the contacts that we will collect.

Ongea – A hub for student networking and conversations
§   The Ongea platform will be a conversational hub-like meet-up where BAMU will create a conducive environment for pitching ideas on social change depending on what will be under discussion.

§   During Ongea sessions, we will identify potential change makers and assume them into the content generation processes of BAMU and spread the gospel of blogging plus its impact.

§    The goal of Ongea is to open people’s minds to new possibilities about what can be achieved in Maseno University (the university in the bush) and to encourage innovation as a problem solving means among students.

§    After this first meeting, every member of the BAMU and consequently Ongea team will be tasked with identifying two other positive, charming and cool students who can have meaningful, positive conversations and this will be done weekly. To join BAMU, the interested person has to bring two other interested like-minded people who fit in our membership criteria selection guidelines.

§    Membership into BAMU (and Ongea) will be on subscription basis and will require a financial commitment of Ksh 100 from the interested persons.

§     BAMU will soon get registered as part of B.A.K.E (Bloggers Association of Kenya) and each member will be required to pay Ksh 500 to facilitate resource mobilization and training expenses for the B.A.K.E team.

§   At the moment, BAMU will not be registered as a club/society in the Dean’s office but will be an affiliate of Spoken Heart which is under ICL.
